Coinciding with the International Day of Older Persons, observed on 1 October, Beit Al Khair Society announced that it provided support worth AED 9,993,388 to older persons from the beginning of 2026 until the end of September. The support was delivered through a diverse package of its humanitarian projects and initiatives, which aim to provide care and support to eligible groups and enhance their quality of life, in line with the UAE's approach to caring for senior citizens and older persons and consolidating the values of social solidarity.
The Society explained that the total number of beneficiaries reached 1,151 older persons in need of assistance. Of these, 565 were senior Emirati citizens, who received support totalling AED 4,140,735, while 586 elderly residents received assistance worth AED 5,852,653. The support was provided through the "Underprivileged Families" project for low-income families, and the "Is'aad" project, which offers recreational and supportive initiatives to bring happiness to older persons, orphans and People of Determination.
Elderly residents also benefit from the "Ilaj" (Treatment) project, which helps treat patients whose health insurance does not cover their urgent needs, leaving them in need of surgeries, costly medicines, medical devices or wheelchairs. Senior citizens living within their families also benefit from the seasonal projects and assistance that Beit Al Khair organises annually for low-income families during occasions and Eids. In Ramadan, they are covered by the Ramadan Meer (food supplies) project; during Eid Al Fitr, they benefit from Zakat Al Fitr; and during Eid Al Adha, they benefit from the Udhiya (sacrificial meat) project, among other occasions.
Beit Al Khair affirmed that caring for senior citizens and older persons is an integral part of its humanitarian mission, stemming from its appreciation of their contributions and standing in society, and its commitment to supporting them and providing everything that helps them meet their living needs through its humanitarian projects and diverse initiatives. This reinforces the values of compassion, solidarity and mutual care, and keeps pace with the wise leadership's attention to our elders, who are rich in value, experience and standing.
