Bilal Al Budoor highlighted Juma Al Majid’s role in supporting education by contributing to the establishment of several government schools, including Al Shaab School, and serving as head of the Parents’ Council, as well as his efforts to collect, preserve and make rare manuscripts available to researchers. He affirmed that Al Majid’s journey represents a model of sustainable cultural and community giving.
For her part, Shaikha Al Mutairi spoke about the beginnings of Juma Al Majid’s interest in reading and culture and his founding of a reading club. The Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage took part in the festival with a special exhibition documenting the cultural and charitable journey of its founder, through a collection of photographs and memorabilia showcasing his most notable achievements and the honours he has received. These include the Al Awael Award for Charitable Work, in recognition of establishing the first Emirati centre for manuscript restoration, and the King Faisal Prize for Service to Islam.
