Amid a difficult journey marked by the pain of illness and the harsh realities of life, a resident patient in the UAE found a helping hand extended by Beit Al Khair Society after all avenues had narrowed before her.

The young widow, who lost her sole provider and now bears the responsibility of raising six children, struggled tirelessly to secure a better future for them. However, illness weakened her body, and life closed its doors one after another.

She had been working for a travel and tourism company, relying on a modest monthly salary of AED 5,000, before breast cancer and lymph node cancer forced her to leave her job. With her income cut off, her children’s hopes of continuing their education were put on hold, while the burden of daily living expenses and an annual rent of AED 22,000 became overwhelming for the exhausted family.

The patient underwent four chemotherapy sessions at Tawam Hospital, yet the pain continued to haunt her nights, intensifying in the breast and underarm areas. This required further medical examinations and an additional treatment plan consisting of six more sessions, each costing AED 30,223, bringing the total to AED 181,342—an amount impossible for an unemployed mother supporting six children to afford.

As despair began to weigh heavily on her heart, hope arrived through Beit Al Khair. The Society promptly and compassionately reviewed her case, fully aware of the profound human suffering she was enduring and the anxiety she carried for her children’s future. Beit Al Khair therefore decided to provide the necessary support to ensure the continuation of her treatment and enable her to pursue recovery with determination and hope.

Beit Al Khair affirmed that supporting such cases aligns with its humanitarian mission, which places strong emphasis on assisting patients and low-income individuals, while reinforcing the values of solidarity and generosity that distinguish the UAE. Standing by patients in need, the Society noted, is a core pillar of its humanitarian strategy.

Beit Al Khair continues its efforts to provide a broad safety net for affected families and the most vulnerable segments of society, ensuring them a dignified life and renewed hope in overcoming their health and living challenges.
