A Young Woman Battles Death Twice – "Beit Al Khair" Extends a Lifeline with AED 228,600 in Humanitarian Support

Within the modest walls of a small rented home, a humble family clings to threads of hope after enduring years of suffering with their 25-year-old daughter. She has waged a long, exhausting battle with kidney failure and heart complications, her life suspended between grueling dialysis sessions and powerful immunosuppressants that have worn down her body and drained her family emotionally and financially.

Three years ago, the young woman (E.S) underwent a kidney transplant from a deceased donor after a long and painful wait. Her family breathed a sigh of relief, believing the chapter of pain had finally closed. However, their joy was short-lived. The transplant failed due to her inability to continue treatment, as her father could no longer afford the costly medications amid their dire financial circumstances.

The father, a long-time UAE resident, works in the private sector with a monthly salary of just AED 4,000. He is the sole provider for a family of eight—his wife and six children—struggling to meet their basic needs, including rent, school fees, and rising living costs.

As the daughter’s health deteriorated, doctors at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi confirmed she urgently required a second kidney transplant, a procedure involving significant expenses for surgery, medication, and post-operative care. Facing a financial crisis they couldn’t overcome, the family turned to Beit Al Khair Society for help.

In line with its humanitarian and healthcare programs, Beit Al Khair responded swiftly and compassionately, covering the full treatment cost of AED 228,676, ensuring the young woman receives the surgery and ongoing medical care she desperately needs. This intervention gave her a new lease on life and brought much-needed relief to her struggling family.

The case of (E.S) deeply touched Beit Al Khair’s team—not merely as a medical case, but as a story of a brave young woman confronting illness while her family lacked the means to save her. Guided by its belief that humanitarian work is a mission of life, and that saving a single patient can save an entire family, Beit Al Khair stepped in to alleviate her suffering and support her journey to recovery.

Beit Al Khair pays particular attention to critical medical cases through its “Treatment” project, supported by several humanitarian radio programs including “Zayed Al Khair,” “Haq Ma’loom,” and “Mayadeen Al Khair.” These programs highlight urgent medical cases and invite the public to donate and extend compassion to patients in need—regardless of nationality or religion—inspired by the UAE’s enduring values of mercy and humanity.

The story of (E.S) is not just about illness; it is a powerful reminder that hope can blossom from hardship, and that the UAE remains a land of generosity and refuge for those in desperate need.
